KUCHING, Aug 25: Appointing Sarawakian Members of Parliament (MPs) as ministers in Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yakoob’s Cabinet can ensure fair policy and distribution of national expenditure for Sarawak.
Hoping the new Prime Minister will continue to include Sarawak MPs in his Cabinet, Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Stakan branch chairman Dato Sim Kiang Chiok said the arrangement would only bring meaningful and progressive development to both Sarawak and Malaysia.
“For the new PM to also consider a DPM (Deputy Prime Minister) from us (Sarawak) will be good too, to show his appreciation for our support and as one of the forming partners of Malaysia,” he added.
Though the current government term under Ismail Sabri might be short, as a General Election is expected soon once herd immunity is achieved, Sim said choosing a DPM from Sarawak’s MPs can be a significant gesture to show that Sarawak can also contribute to nation-building.
Sim, who is also Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Development (Sheda) Kuching Branch chairman, said Malaysia’s economic exit plan must be well-structured and implemented to save as many jobs and businesses when the nation surfaces from the National Recovery Plan (NRP).
“Our Sarawak government has always supported the stability of our country, especially in politics so that progress can be achieved without any disruption and uncertainty.
“Our support for the new PM will reap benefits with both (State and Federal) governments working together, bring more development and economic growth when we start to live with Covid-19,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Sim lauded Ismail Sabri’s newly introduced concept of ‘Keluarga Malaysia’ as it is time for all to focus as one united family to face the challenges and adversities going forward. — DayakDaily
