KUCHING, July 17: Rumpun Silat Sarawak (RSS) has requested for a tripartite meeting with Sarawak Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and vendors to discuss on the alleged outstanding payment for the said vendors of the Sarawak Premier International Silat Championship (SPISC) held from Feb 27 to March 5.
In a statement today, the RSS Executive Working Committee said the information received by the minister regarding the issue may not be accurate.
“We hope the minister would agree to the meeting,” it stated.
The statement was released following a statement made by Abdul Karim yesterday (July 16) who clarified that the Sarawak government is not to be blame because the Premier’s Office has paid the event organiser according to the budget that they had requested.
“The Premier has already provided them with the funds, and it is now the responsibility of the management (organiser) to determine how the expenses will be allocated.
“If the arrangement is not done correctly, the cost will overshoot,” he said.
On Saturday (July 15), a viral Facebook post by one of the vendors of SPISC alleged that he and other vendors have not been paid by the event organiser since March 30 and they are requesting an immediate solution from the responsible party. — DayakDaily
