MIRI, Oct 16: Constituents in Sibuti have been told to continue supporting Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and its coalition parties in the coming State Election.

In disclosing this on Saturday during the ‘Sepakat@ Komuniti’ programme organised by Miri Information Department (JaPen) at the Al-Muttaqin Mosque in Bekenu, Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni said in order to ensure that the current government policies are carried out smoothly, GPS needs a strong mandate from the voters in the coming Sarawak Election, which could be held as soon as the Emergency is lifted.

On July 30 this year, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah proclaimed that Sarawak would continue under the State of Emergency from Aug 2 until Feb 2 next year.

The King’s decree suspended the State Election in order to prevent any further increase in the spread of Covid-19.

On Saturday’s ‘Sepakat@Komuniti’ programme, Lukanisman presented food baskets to 50 needy individuals in Sibuti.

Bekenu was the fifth location for the programme after Piasau, Pujut, Senadin and Lambir.

Also present was Miri JaPen officer Zamri Mohammad. — DayakDaily
