SERIAN, Oct 8: The health clinic in Siburan is expected to be fully operational either by April or May next year.
Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodity Datuk Willie Mongin said the Class III clinic, which is being built at a cost of RM28.6 million is now 88.3 per cent completed.
It started construction in May 2019.
“For the Health clinic here (in Siburan), we expect the handover to take place in March next year, and if everything goes well, it will be fully functional either by April or May next year,” Willie told reporters during a site visit today.
The Puncak Borneo MP said the clinic, which is equipped with a laboratory and dental unit will also provide emergency services after office hours.
He pointed out that the clinic  will replace the current dilapidated clinic, which is also prone to floods.
According to Willie, the project should have kicked off about 18 years ago.
He was glad to note that the project finally materialised after being officiated by at least four ministers, adding that it will greatly benefit the people in Puncak Borneo and the surrounding areas in particular.
He noted that the project was scrapped under the Pakatan Harapan government, but was reinstated after he made an appeal.
Willie said although the project was slightly behind schedule at three per cent, it was acceptable due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the unpredictable weather conditions in the area. — DayakDaily
