KUCHING, Dec 29: Members of the public are invited to join the ongoing Sibujaya Countdown “Menuju 2026: Terokai Sibu, Rasai Malaysia” festivities as the township builds momentum toward Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026).
Currently being held at the Azman Hashim Community Sport Centre, the countdown event features a variety of community-focused programmes and food stalls designed to foster local pride and celebrate Malaysian culture.
In a statement today, the organisers highlighted that the celebration has already seen overwhelming community response, most notably through the recent VM2026 Colouring Contest and the Pertandingan Poco-Poco Kreatif.
The Poco-Poco Kreatif competition brought vibrant energy to the venue, with Shining Dance Group emerging as the champion. They were followed by Kaki Dansa in second place and Laila Saga Budaya in third.
The organisers also celebrated the success of the VM2026 Colouring Contest, which saw nearly 150 children participating across three age categories.

The winners are:
Category A (Age 4–6)
- 1st: Kelly Kan Lik Xin
- 2nd: Ensley Lau Zan Yu
- 3rd: Lenard Liu Zeal Jake
- 4th: Emily Pan Yuk Lin
Category B (Age 7–9)
- 1st: Vivian Teng Jia En
- 2nd: Lee Yi Tin
- 3rd: Charlene Hii Yu Xin
- 4th: Teoh Zi Qin
Category C (Age 10–12)
- 1st: Gan Koh Nee
- 2nd: Ashley Huang Zhen Yuan
- 3rd: Edna Wong Gyn Xin
- 4th: Ivan Law Lik Cheng

The organisers noted that through arts, dance, and family-friendly activities, the Sibu Jaya Countdown aims to show that tourism promotion starts with local participation and memorable community experiences.
“Through arts, dance, and family-friendly community activities, the Sibu Jaya Countdown continues to promote the spirit of Visit Malaysia 2026—showing that tourism promotion starts with local pride, community participation, and memorable experiences,” read the statement.
As the countdown to 2026 continues, the public is encouraged to visit the Azman Hashim Community Sport Centre to enjoy the various ongoing programmes and support the local food stalls on-site. — DayakDaily
