Sibu woman in quarantine centre found unconscious, passes away due to Covid-19

KUCHING, May 18: Two women who were close contacts of Covid-19 cases in Sibu were among five new Covid-19 fatalities reported in Sarawak today.

According to reports from Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the women aged 51 and 71 were close contacts of Covid-19 patients and were placed at quarantine and low-risk treatment centres.


“The 226th death case is Case 37,529 who is a woman who was placed at the quarantine centre and had close contact to positive cases.

“The case was found unconscious and was immediately referred to Sibu Hospital for treatment.

“The results of the Covid-19 swab test taken on May 10 was positive,” it said.

SDMC said the victim’s health condition subsequently deteriorated and she was pronounced dead on May 13.

The committee noted that the deceased had hypertension and asthma.

Apart from that, another woman who was placed at the quarantine and low-risk treatment centre in Sibu also passed away due to Covid-19.

SDMC said the victim experienced fever and flu for two days and tested positive for Covid-19 on May 3.

Later on, the victim who had hypertension and diabetes was referred to Sibu Hospital for fatigue, vomiting and diarrhea before her health condition weakened and she passed away today (May 18). — DayakDaily
