Sibu residents told to expect dry taps starting Sept 25 due to repair works

SIBU, Sept 23: Most parts of Sibu town will be without water supply from 10pm on Friday (Sept 25) due to repair works to be carried out by the Sibu Water Board (SWB).

SWB in a statement today revealed it intended to carry out replacement of 700mm diameter outlet electromagnetic flowmeter at the Bukit Lima Treatment Plant and repair the 500mm diameter main pipe leaking opposite Catholic High School from 10pm on Friday until the completion of works.

It added that the work will be carried out if the weather permits, otherwise it will be carried out the next day.

Affected areas include Jln Alan, Jln Lanang and its Lane, Lau Boon Loong Wharf, Lrg Lanang 61 and its Lane, Lrg Lanang 59, Jln Ubah, Jln Semayur, Jln Ek Dee and its Lane, Jln Merbau, Jln Pelaie, Jln Meranti, Jln Petir, Jln Aman and its Lane, Jln Dungun, Jln Adam, Jln Nyatuh, Jln Kwong Tung, Jln Tekam and its Lane, Jln Bunga Mawar and its Lane, Jln Selangan, Jln Chong Sang, Jln Kapor and its Lane, Jln Jongkong, Jln Amoy, Kingwood Hotel, Tanahmas Hotel, Paramount Hotel, Kawan Hotel, Li Hua Hotel, Golden Happiness Restaurant, Jln Chengal and its Lane, and Jln Teo Chong Loh.

“During repair work, portions of the Lanang main road from junction of Jalan Long Bridge until junction of Jalan Tan Sri (near to Tai Shan Lai Cafe) will be closed to traffic,” the statement read, adding the board would strive to complete the works as soon as possible.
