SIBU, March 20: Pork sellers here are reducing their weekly trading from five to three days starting March 26 in view of the Covid-19 outbreak.
A statement from Sibu Pork Dealers Association today said they will only open for business on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday until the outbreak is under control, or that the situation in the state has returned to normal.
“Due to the serious outbreak of Covid-19, and in order to comply with the government’s movement control order (MCO), a lot of restaurants and noodle stalls are not open, thus the market for pork is also affected,” it said.
The association’s committee, expressing concerns on their own safety, has agreed to trade until March 23 (Monday) with a break from March 24 to 26.
Effective March 26, they will only be opened for three days a week.
The association called on all members to comply with this arrangement, and to stay at home during this period. — DayakDaily
