MIRI, March 20: A law firm belonging to Senator Alan Ling at Pelita Commercial centre, here, has been broken into by burglars amid the Movement Control Order (MCO).

A police report has been lodged by Ling’s staff after the discovery of the incident at around 7.30am today.

Acting on the report lodged, a team of police officers have been rushed to the scene to investigate the case. Preliminary investigations revealed that the intruders had damaged three of the premise’s CCTVs.

According to Ling, the door was damaged and several drawers were opened. Losses were estimated at about RM2,000.

He added that no important documents were missing and no valuable items lost. All computers and a laptop at the office were not stolen or damaged.

Police officers combing the area for possible finger prints of the culprits.

“I feel sorry for the theft, especially since the MCO period is so important right now, it seems that some people are willing to risk their own lives and the public by abusing the MCO and take opportunity to threaten not only the peace but the health of others,” he said.

He described such behavior or action as extremely shameful and “selfish”, which was troubling to the public especially to the authorities (police) who are now concentrating their time and efforts in executing MCO for the benefit of all. — DayakDaily
