SIBU, Sept 12: Police are hunting down a woman for snatching the wallet of a 72-year-old army veteran.

Sibu district police chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the incident happened at about 1.30pm yesterday (Sept 11) at Workshop Road here.

He said the victim had just bought 4D numbers from a shop.

“He had just walked out of the shop and was looking at his betting number. When he was about to put his wallet into his pocket at the back of his trousers, a woman suddenly snatched it and ran away,” he said.

Stanley said the victim could not chase after the suspect as his legs were weak due to his age.

His wallet contained RM600, an army veteran card,  driving license, identity card and a bank ATM card.

The case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery. -DayakDaily
