SIBU, March 29: Several police facilities in Sibu are set to undergo rebuilding and upgrading, says Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government II Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee.

Tiang revealed that he has allocated RM700,000 under his Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2024 fund for this purpose.

“The allocation, approved under the Pelawan constituency RTP, includes rebuilding the Taman Rejang police pondok at a cost of RM200,000 and upgrading facilities at Sungai Merah Police Station with RM200,000.

“For the Sibu District Police Headquarters (IPD), I have approved RM100,000 for the construction of a children’s playground and another RM200,000 for the reconstruction of the Gazebo, as requested by the Sibu District Police Chief,” he stated during the Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony and breaking of the fast with Sibu police yesterday evening.

Tiang emphasised that his approval for the projects underscores his commitment to addressing the needs of Sibu police.

The Pelawan assemblyman affirmed that he will remain attentive to the requirements of the police force, acknowledging their crucial role in upholding community and national security.

“The police should have good facilities to support them in providing excellent services to the Sibu community,” he added.
