KUCHING, May 3: Sibu reported one new Covid-19 positive case today, breaking its 14-day streak of not registering a single positive case and turning it into a yellow zone (location with one to 40 cases)
Meanwhile, the remaining four cases reported in the state today comprised one in Kuching involving a healthcare worker and three cases from Kota Samarahan.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) secretariat in a statement which confirmed there were five positive cases reported today, revealed that with the new positive case in Kuching linked to the healthcare worker, the cumulative number of cases for the healthcare worker cluster is now 58 people.
From these 58 people, 22 are from the Kuching conference cluster while 36 people are from smaller clusters.
Meanwhile, as for the remaining four positive cases today, one was linked to the Sri Petaling tabligh gathering cluster, one from a smaller cluster, and two were new cases under investigation.
The secretariat revealed three cases were from Kota Samarahan and one from Sibu.
SDMC also disclosed that Kuching has 131 active cases while Kota Samarahan has 47 active cases.
Both locations are classified as red zones (41 cases and above).
There are also 73 person-under-investigation (PUI) cases today while a total of 182 PUI cases are awaiting laboratory results.
Eleven more patients from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) have recovered and were discharged from the hospital today.
Meanwhile, the committee revealed that there were 578 more Sarawakians who have returned to the state as of today and have been placed at various hotels throughout Sarawak as person-under-surveillance (PUS) cases.
