Sibu MP endeavours to sell essential goods at subsidised rates to ease cost of living of B40 group

The gas subsidy programme recorded a good response from the public.

SIBU, Jan 14: More sales of goods at subsidised rates will be organised to lighten the burden of the people, especially those in the B40 group.

Sibu MP Oscar Ling said his service center will hold such activities every month in the form of subsidies for essential goods, oil, gas and so on.

“The price of the goods will be subsidised and then sold to the public at a low price compared to the market price,” he said when met at a gas subsidy programme held at the car park in front of Kafe Eco Delite, Jalan Ulu Sungai Merah here today.

Since the people are burdened with the high price of goods now, he said, it is only fitting that his service center organises such programmes.

“We are targeting areas where many B40 people are staying,” he explained.

Speaking about the gas subsidy programme, Ling said, the response was very encouraging from the public.

He revealed that as many as 500 gas tanks are provided for the public.

According to him, a tank of gas sold in the market costs more than RM30 and the price when subsidised is only RM20.

Each family can only buy a tank of gas at the programme.

The same programme will also be held tomorrow at JKR Jetty, Sungai Bidut from 7.30am to 11.30am.

“Those who live in the area can buy gas on the condition that they bring an empty gas tank,” he said. — DayakDaily
