Sibu man jailed 1 day, fined RM3,000 for assaulting sister in inheritance dispute

SIBU, June 7: The Magistrate’s Court today sentenced a man to one day in prison and fined RM3,000 for assaulting his sister in a family land dispute.

The accused, 52-year-old Ngu Ming Wei, pleaded guilty to the offence under Section 323 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 326A of the same code before Magistrate Oon Kork Chern.

Ngu was charged with intentionally causing injury to his sister by punching her in the stomach and kicking her back at a house in Tanjung Ensurai at about 10.50am on April 4.

Based on the facts of the case, on the day of the incident, the complainant had gone to their father’s house in Tanjung Ensurai to deliver food.

The accused, however, was unhappy over the inheritance of the family’s land, which favoured her and attacked the complainant.

The incident was witnessed by the complainant’s father and her husband.

Following a police report made by the complainant, the police arrested the accused at a house in Jalan Poh Yew at about 9.40pm on April 4. — DayakDaily
