Sibu man fined RM34,600 for possession of protected animals, plants without license

SIBU, August 2: A 46-year-old man was fined RM34,600 by the Sessions Court today for the possession of protected animals and plants without a license.

The accused, Liwan Ting Ngee Kee Abdullah, had in his possession the following items: Two crocodile skulls, two wildcat skulls, one shark jaw, one macaque skull, nine pieces of porcupine hair, 31 units of agarwood, a panther skull, a piece of panther skin, a hornbill head, a dolphin skull, 30 pig tusks, three pig skulls of the Suidae species, one bear skull of the Ursidae species, and eight deer horns.

All of the offences were committed at about 2.05pm on August 31, 2022, at his shop in Jalan Sungai Antu.

The offences were framed under Sections 37(1), 30(2), 37(2)(b), and 37(2)(c) of the Wildlife Protection Ordinance 1998. — DayakDaily
