Sibu locals warned not to hunt during army drill from Oct 17-31

SIBU, Oct 4: The 9th Malaysian Infantry Brigade will conduct the Haringgaroo joint land exercise between the Malaysian Army (TDM) and the Australian Army (TDA) from October 17 to 31, 2024.

In a statement today, the Brigade informed that the bilateral training involving the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment (TDM) and Rifle Company Butterworth (TDA), will take place in the general area of Sibu-Stapang-Nanga Sekuau.

“Road users, plantation and land owners as well as local residents are advised to refrain from hunting or engaging in any other activities in the training area to ensure the safety of the exercises,” it said.

Meanwhile, the 9th Malaysian Infantry Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Ahmad Norzaini Badrun, stated that the primary objective of the exercise is to strengthen the relationship between TDM and TDA through enhanced joint training.

He appealed to local residents and villagers in the training area to cooperate with the military personnel during their exercises. — DayakDaily
