KUCHING, Feb 10: The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has decided to impose the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at the flat and Town Villa housing in Sibu Jaya, Sibu.
Following Sibu Jaya town which recorded 247 positive Covid-19 cases and out of that, 129 cases were derived from the flat, the EMCO at the flat and the Town Villa housing will be implemented for two weeks from Feb 12 until Feb 25.
“The flat area and the Town Villa housing has about 6,000 people.
“Therefore, SDMC has decided to implement the EMCO for the flat and the Town Villa housing at Sibu Jaya effective from Feb 11 until Feb 25,” said SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas during a press conference today.
Earlier, Uggah who is also Deputy Chief Minister disclosed that Sibu has reported 83 new cases of Covid-19 today.
Out of the 83 cases, 56 cases were derived from screenings of active contact to Covid-19 patients.
There were 20 cases which were identified from screenings of individuals who went for Covid-19 swab test at the health facility in Sibu.
Three cases were identified from the screening of symptomatic individuals, three cases involved medical staff and one case linked to the Pasai Cluster. —DayakDaily
