Sibu housewife falls prey to used car scam, loses RM1,920

SIBU, June 26: A 27-year-old housewife claimed she lost RM1,920 in an online car scam.

According to Sibu district police chief, ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, on April 4, the complainant was browsing Facebook when she came across an advertisement for used cars.

“She was interested in a Perodua Axia and clicked on a link that brought her to a number on WhatsApp where she was asked to deposit RM1,920 for the car.

“She made three bank transfers from April 28 to June. She realised that she had been cheated when the suspect asked for more payments,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating. — DayakDaily
