KUCHING, Jan 12:  The Sibu Hospital is running out of space to house all the Covid-19 patients.

This is the statement posted by Sibu Municipal Council chairman Clarence Ting who added that authorities are now considering using other venues.

“I urge everyone in Sibu to take extreme precautions by following Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) strictly.  Do not take short cuts,” he warned sternly in his social media posting after a meeting regarding CMCO this morning.

He also warned the Sibu public that Covid-19 positive cases in Sibu will surge in the next few days.

Following the announcement of Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) to be effective tonight midnight, Ting also urged business operators to strictly adhere to SOPs set down by Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) as soon as possible.

He said SMC will be enhancing its routine monitoring in places such as restaurants, coffee shops, eateries, hawker centres, markets, entertainment outlets, music cafes, bars, hotels, reflexology centres, spa centres, hair saloons and petrol stations.

Meanwhile, he also announced that Sibu Indoor Stadium, Stadium Tun Zaidi, Stadium Tertutup Bukit Lima and Padang Sukan Jalan Lada will be closed for the public. — Dayakdaily
