KUCHING, April 17: Sibu will be the first district in Sarawak to receive its Phase Two of the Covid-19 Vaccination Programme starting this Monday (April 19).

State Health director Dr Chin Zin Hing said following Sibu would be Kuching, Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Kapit, Mukah and Miri on April 23.

“For, Samarahan, Bintulu and Limbang districts, it will start on April 24, and Sarikei on April 30.

“From April 19 to 30, there will be a total of 13 mass vaccination centres operating in the whole of Sarawak.

“These are mass vaccination centres. Besides this, we have our health clinics to continue giving out vaccines as well,” he said during the Covid-19 press conference today.

Reminding the public that Phase Two of the vaccination programme is targetting Covid-19 high-risk groups including the elderly above 60 years old and those with comorbidities, he said there are 929,435 individuals to be vaccinated within this phase.

In Sibu on April 19, he said, a total of 924 recipients are expected to be present for their vaccinations at the Sibu Indoor Stadium.

Dr Chin also noted those who have received notifications for their vaccination appointments must confirm their willingness to receive the vaccines before proceeding.

“Those who have been given the appointment details and are ready for the vaccine jabs are required to be present based on the time and place stated in the MySejahtera application.

“These people are urged to be there on time and at the right place for their vaccinations to avoid any wastage,” he added. — DayakDaily
