Sibu firefighters rescue trapped driver in road accident

The lorry which landed in a ditch along Salim road, Sibu with the driver trapped inside.

KUCHING, Dec 18: A 38-year-old lorry driver was rescued by firefighters after being trapped inside the lorry’s cabin following a single vehicle road accident at Salim road in Sibu, today.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue (Bomba) operation centre in a statement today, said Sibu Central Fire Station received the emergency call at 8.55 am, and a team of nine firefighters led by PBK II KUP Muhammed Sufyian Abdullah were dispatched to the location.

According to the statement, the operation commander arriving at the scene confirmed that the incident, involving a trailer lorry, had landed in a ditch along Salim road and found that the driver was still trapped inside the lorry’s cabin.


The rescued lorry driver was later handed over to the awaiting medical personnel for further action.

Firefighters proceeded to rescue the driver using a Rescue Tool and later handed him over to the Ministry of Health (MOH)’s ambulance waiting at the scene for further action. — DayakDaily
