SIBU, Aug 22: Police have arrested five men suspected of being involved in a brawl in front of a bistro in Jalan Pahlawan on Sunday.

Sibu District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Zulkipli Suhaili said, the five suspects aged between 29 and 50-years-old were detained after a 42-second video of the fight had gone viral on social media.

He said, as a result of intelligence and police investigation, all the local men involved were successfully arrested around various parts of the town at 2.15pm.

In the viral video, several individuals are seen fighting using plastic chairs in front of the bistro.

It is understood that the incident was believed to be due to a misunderstanding between two men who bumped into each other’s shoulders when entering the bistro’s toilet.

An argument then broke out between them and turned into a group fight.

According to Zulkipli, the police would apply for remand orders against all the suspects at the Sibu Court today.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting. — DayakDaily
