MIRI, Dec 9: A manager and a worker of a supermarket in Piasau suffered minor injuries when they attempted to catch a shoplifter, who managed to flee the scene in a car.
Prior to the 11am drama on Friday, the suspect was observed shoplifting through CCTV cameras. He had concealed the stolen items in his pants and shirt. When he walked past the payment counter without paying, the manager and his staff pounced.
For all their efforts to catch the shoplifter, they only managed to recover a packet of chocolate powder before the suspect quickly got into a car.
Once inside the vehicle, the suspect immediately engaged the reverse gear and the car brushed the manager and the staff slightly.
A police report was later lodged at Miri Central Police Station (CPS). — DayakDaily
