Sheraton Kuching is first Sheraton hotel in East Malaysia

KUCHING, Oct 25: Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s global portfolio of 31 hotel brands, announced the opening of Sheraton Kuching Hotel, their first Sheraton Hotel in East Malaysia and the third Sheraton Hotel in the country.

In a statement, Marriott International Area Vice-President (Indonesia and Malaysia) Ramesh Jackson, described the location of the hotel as a place steeped in history, culture and mystery surrounded by lush, ancient rainforest and wildlife.

He added that Sarawak has piqued the interest of many dreaming of an exotic destination.


“As the capital of Sarawak, Kuching is also a key destination for business travel,” elaborated Jackson.

He added they are very excited to expand their portfolio in Sarawak with the opening of the Sheraton Kuching Hotel, making it their first hotel in Kuching, and their sixth property in East Malaysia.

“Whether it’s for leisure or work, we are always in search of opportunities in key destinations to deliver the Sheraton brand’s mission of creating an intuitive, holistic experience for guests, said Jackson.

Sheraton Kuching Hotel General Manager George van Osten opined that Sheraton Kuching is a gathering place where the world can come together to explore the authentic and charming city of Kuching, whether for business or leisure.

He said guests can be reassured of receiving Sheraton’s enduring hospitality hallmarks of reliability, familiarity and excellence.

The same statement describes Sheraton Kuching Hotel as an ode to the city’s prominent contrast of the old and new as it is situated in the quaint locale of Jalan Padungan, which is just a 15-minute drive from Kuching International Airport.

Once fully opened, Sheraton Kuching will feature 378 guest rooms and 38 spacious suites, comprising a Presidential Suite, as well as Executive, Club and Junior Suites.
