Shell, Orkim sign long-term deal to charter 2 vessels for petroleum distribution across M’sia

KUCHING, Sept 27: Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd have entered into a long-term agreement with Orkim Sdn Bhd to charter two shipping vessels for the distribution of petroleum products across Malaysia.

According to a media release today, the two vessels will play a crucial role in transporting oil products for Shell Malaysiaā€™s Downstream fuels business in the country.

Equipped with enhanced features for safety, efficiency, and environmental protection, these new builds address the growing requirements and compliance needs.

The agreement was signed between Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd managing director Shairan Huzani Husain and Orkim Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Capt Cheah Sin Bi in an event held in Kuala Lumpur.

Orkim Sdn Bhd is one of the largest domestic vessel owners in Malaysia with 17 petroleum product tankers and two liquified petroleum gas tankers.

Shairan highlighted that this collaboration marks a major milestone in Shell’s commitment to support Malaysian stakeholders through a long-term strategy aimed at enhancing and building capabilities within the local energy sector.
