KUCHING, April 11: The annual Sheda Property Expo, touted as Sarawak’s largest property expo, will be held this year from July 14 to July 16 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

At today’s launch at the Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (Sheda) Kuching headquarters here, Sheda Property Expo organising chairman Steve Tan Chen Hang encouraged developers to leverage the three-day event to generate sales leads from prospective buyers who might not otherwise have the opportunity to view their products.

In addition, Tan urged developers to utilise the exposure to engage in face-to-face interactions, increase brand awareness, and foster customer loyalty.

“This year, we hope to provide additional value-added support services to facilitate the transaction process whereby visitors ready to commit to a purchase will be able to check credit score ratings onsite and learn ways to improve their credit status through agencies and financial institutions,” he said.

According to a press handout, first-time homeowners can also look forward to the i-Miliki stamp duty exemption under the federal government’s Home Ownership Programme (Hope), which provides selected stamp duty exemptions for residential property priced up to RM1 million. A condition of the initiative is that the Sales & Purchase Agreement has to be entered into by December 31, 2023.

“Although implementation mechanisms have yet to be announced as of the expo’s launch date, it is expected that the financial incentive will entice first-time buyers to act before the campaign period expires,” stated the press handout.

Tan pointed out that although the Sheda Property Expo primarily features property development projects in Sarawak, property developers beyond Sarawak’s shores are also welcome to participate.

“Non-property developers selling products, appliances, or services that complement the property industry such as smart home systems, security features, or green solution providers are also welcome to register with us,” he added.

Those interested to participate are encouraged to book early to secure preferred locations. Early bird discounts are available until May 5, 2023.
