KUCHING, Dec 15: The passing of the Strata (Subsidiary Titles) Bill 2019 and Strata Management Bill 2019, will protect the interests of both home-buyers and developers by facilitating effective management of strata units.
“Records by National Property Information Centre (NAPIC) has indicated that the trend in Sarawak is indeed moving toward condominium/apartment development as lifestyle living,” Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (SHEDA) Kuching branch chairman, Sim Kiang Chiok said during the association’s pre-Christmas gathering at a cafe here.
“With the increasing number of medium to high rise apartments sprouting up in the urban areas of Kuching and Samarahan, professional building management is very important for the sustainability of the ultimate management corporation,” Sim added.
According to Sim, developers will be able to manage buildings and common facilities accordingly and professionally through the help and guide of the two ordinances.
“The new ordinance will also enable enhancement of the issuance of subsidiary tiles, establishments of management corporations and the overall improvement for all stakeholders involved in strata title development,” Sim pointed out.
Sim later announced that SHEDA Kuching will be organising a Strata Management Seminar in April where its members and property players can learn more information and knowledge from professionals from Peninsular Malaysia.
He also reminded the public that the Home Ownership Campaign (HOC) will end on Dec 31 and purchasers can get at least 10 per cent discount with free stamp duty waiver from participating developers during this period.
Also present at the gathering was Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian. — DayakDaily
