“Not only SGH is one of four public hospitals but the only hospital on the island of Borneo (listed) in (the) top 28!

“This unexpected achievement is only possible because of the 5,000 medical and paramedical staffs with another 500 private supporting staffs who have been doing their job beyond the call of duty with infective enthusiasm, passion, dedication, sacrifices, despite the three to 10 times less remunerations but three to 10 times more workload compared to private hospitals, professionalism in their job with integrity!” he said in a Facebook post today.

Dr Sim who is also Sarawak Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government (MPHLG) further called on the public to continue giving their support to SGH so that it can continue to excel beyond expectations despite facing limitations due to financial constraints.

Subsequently, he stressed that the federal government needs to increase spending to five per cent of gross domestic product (GDP) as rightly stated in the Health White Paper.

Dr Sim said the Sarawak government will continue to play its role in the fight for the return of health autonomy under Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and funding to accelerate federal projects in the State. — DayakDaily
