Deputy minister Dr Annuar’s father passes away at 94

SIBU, April 22: Rapaiee Tarip, the father of Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Sarawak Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, passed away at 2.37am today and was buried at the Kemuyang Islamic Cemetery.

He left behind his wife, Fatimah Othman, five sons, a daughter, and over 20 grandchildren.


He passed away at Sibu Hospital and was laid to rest at 1.25pm. He was 94.

Dr Annuar, who is the youngest child, said that his father’s health had started deteriorating before the fasting month.

“Although he was 94 years old, he was still energetic, able to drive, go to the bank, and cook. However, before the fasting month, he started getting sick,” he said to reporters at the funeral.

A seven-day recitation ceremony will be held at Dr Annuar’s residence at Jalan Kangkong.

Around 400 individuals, including political secretary to Sarawak Premier Sayed Azmee Wan Junaidi, Temenggong Datu Vincent Lau Lee Ming, and Pemanca Datuk Jason Tai, paid their respects. — DayakDaily
