Sg Mangga Cluster emerges with 55 positive cases in Simunjan oil palm plantation

KUCHING, July 29: An oil palm plantation at Sungai Mangga, Simunjan is the site of the new Sungai Mangga Cluster, which recorded 55 Covid-19 cases today.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 16 of the 55 confirmed cases were locals while the remaining 39 were foreigners.


It added that the cluster involved employees and occupants of the workers’ quarters where 160 individuals were screened.

“105 individuals returned negative results and 53 out of 55 positive cases were just reported today,” it said in a statement today.

SDMC also assured that all positive cases have been admitted to the Simunjan Hospital and Low-risk Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC) in Simunjan and Samarahan for isolation and treatment purposes.

Meanwhile, Sarawak also reported four other new clusters today in Kuching alone.

They were community clusters detected in villages namely the Kampung Paya Mebi Cluster, Kampung Quop Cluster, Kampung Senari Cluster and Telaga Air Cluster.

With that, there are now 78 active clusters in the whole of Sarawak. — DayakDaily
