Sg Krian boat capsize tragedy: Bodies of remaining 3 victims found

KUCHING, Sept 28: The bodies of the last three victims of the Sungai Krian boat capsize in Saratok were recovered today, marking the end of the two-day search and rescue (SAR) operation.

In a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the bodies were found by villagers and the SAR team at 10.10am, 10.15am, and 10.45am.

The three victims are Gunawan Pawadi (35), Budianto Yapani (50), and Karyono (41)—all Indonesian nationals.

On Friday (Sept 26) at around 5.30pm, 10 workers from a construction company were returning from work by crossing Sungai Krian from the Sesang Jetty to the Pusa Jetty using a boat.

On the way, the boat they were on capsized, and six managed to save themselves while four went missing while four went missing—Gunawan, Budianto, and Karyono, and Malaysian Mohd Asfar Sulaiman (25), whose body was found on Saturday (Sept 27). — DayakDaily
