“We will improve some roads in Sibu, including a new road connecting Sibu Jaya and Lanang, which is causing congestion on Jalan Salim.

“We are planning improvements to ensure smoother and safer traffic flow,” he told members of the media after visiting six open houses in Sibu, in conjunction with the Chinese New Year, today.

However, the Premier expressed gratitude that Sibu did not suffer severe damage from the flood despite the continuous rain, unlike Miri and Bintulu which were badly affected.

He also expressed pride in seeing the bright Chinese New Year festive spirit of the Sibu community, despite the unpredictable weather.

Accompanying the Premier during his open house visits today were wife of the Premier of Sarawak Datin Patinggi Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications Sarawak Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, Deputy State Secretary of Sarawak (Economic Planning and Development) Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, and the Sibu Division Resident Abang Mohamad Porkan Abang Budiman. – DayakDaily
