Several areas in S’wak expected to be hit by heavy rain, strong winds until 9pm (Apr 16)

KUCHING, April 16: Several areas in Sarawak have been issued a thunderstorm warning that will be valid until 9pm tonight (April 16).

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia), the affected areas are:

Kuching (Bau and Kuching)
Sri Aman (Sri Aman)
Betong (Pusa, Betong, and Saratok)
Sarikei (Pakan and Julau)
Sibu (Sibu and Selangau)
Miri (Telang Usan and Marudi)

A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with rain intensity exceeding 20 mm/hour that is close to or expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single issue.
