KUCHING, July 24: Seven residential areas have benefited from the food aid packs distributed by Democratic Action Party (DAP) Stampin Parliamentary team over the past two weeks.
Michael Kong Feng Nian, special assistant to DAP Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen, said within Kota Sentosa alone, the team has covered residential areas which have been identified to be in need of assistance.
These included but not limited to Stampin Resettlement Scheme, Kampung Stutong, Kampung Stampin, Kampung Sungai Tapang, Taman Mei Lee, Olive Garden and Taman Kalien.
According to Kong, due to the numerous factors such as the weather, vast area as well as the need to minimise the number of volunteers during the current Covid-19 climate, it was a difficult task to continue distributing nonstop over the past two weeks.
“Nonetheless with the sheer determination of our team, we are proud to say that we were able to cover most of the residents in the areas named above on a house-to-house basis. I have to sincerely thank all the volunteers who believed in our vision and goal,” he said in a statement today.
At the same time, Kong also extended their sincere gratitude to the many residents who have politely declined the food aid packs and requested for them to be given to those who will need it more.
Over the past year, he said, they have been able to see the beauty in many for their selfless deed, and it is through their generosity that the food aid packs were able to reach those who are in dire need of such aid.
“With that, the work is not complete. We understand that there are many more people who may still need food aid assistance to go through this difficult time.
“As such anyone who really needs the food aid pack can contact any of our DAP members or our DAP service centres,” he added. — DayakDaily
