Seven arrested for illegal gambling at Nanyang Garden

SIBU, July 29: Seven persons, including three women, have been arrested for illegal gambling at a house in Nanyang Garden yesterday.

Sibu district deputy police chief, Supt Collin Babat said the suspects aged between 40 to 65 were deeply engrossed in a game of Mahjong when a police team from the criminal investigation department showed up.

One of the arrested women, was also suspected of selling illegal 4D numbers.


“All of them were later sent to the central police station to be lock-up for further investigation,” he said.

The police also seized several items from them. They consisted of two wooden tables, seven plastic chairs, two Mahjong sets, and 60 chips.

Items confiscated from the 49-year old woman caught for selling 4D number included a laptop computer, a charger, a Samsung handphone, a modem, and RM186.—DayakDaily
