KUCHING, May 9: “Seteguh Kasih Ibu” has been chosen as the theme for this year’s National Mother’s Day celebration, which will be officially launched by Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim at Dewan Tun Hussein Onn, World Trade Centre (WTC) in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.

In stating this, Federal Minister for Women, Family and Community Development Dato Sri Nancy Shukri extended her wishes to all mothers and called on children and families to use the occasion to honour and appreciate mothers for their sacrifices and love.

“Although we love our mothers every day, let us use Mother’s Day as a special day to show our respect and affection for our mothers,” she said when met by reporters at Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters in Jalan Bako here today.

She also urged husbands to show appreciation to their wives who have become mothers to their children.

“Respect our mothers and love our mothers. To husbands, show your love and appreciation to your wives who are mothers to our children,” she added.

Nancy said various activities have been lined up in conjunction with the national-level celebration, including a special drama programme to be aired on TV Okey tomorrow night.

She added that celebrations would also be organised across all states, including in Sarawak.

“At the Sarawak-level, we will organise the Mother’s Day celebration on May 14, if I’m not mistaken.

“There will be an Inspirational Mother Award too, but the details will be revealed tomorrow,” she stated. — DayakDaily
