Sesco, cops cut power supply to 2 businesses used as gambling dens at Jln Padungan, Jln Stampin

KUCHING, June 11: The police, together with Syarikat Sesco Berhad (Sesco), have cut the electricity supply to two business premises being used as online gambling centres at Jalan Padungan and Jalan Stampin on June 10.

According to a media release, from January of this year until now, 23 houses and business premises have had their power cut.

“The disconnection of the electricity supply was executed under Section 21A of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 (Act 289).

“Premises which had their power supply cut must have written approval from the district police if they want to have the power reconnected,” said Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah in the media release.

He added that the Kuching district police welcomes any information on gambling activities in the district and encourages members of the public to report such incidents to their nearest police station. — DayakDaily
