KUCHING, April 7: The Serian Parish Pastoral Centre is set to become a significant landmark for Catholic Christians in the Serian division.

As per a news report today from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Kuching Archdiocese Archbishop Simon Poh stated that the upcoming completion of the Serian Parish Pastoral Centre project will offer state-of-the-art facilities for religious events and other purposes.

“The project is expected to be worth RM18 million, and I hope that all Catholic Christians in the Serian division will be able to work together to contribute funds wholeheartedly so that it becomes a reality,” he was quoted as saying in the news report.

Poh made the remarks during the Serian Parish Pastoral Centre Fundraising Dinner, which took place in Serian last night (April 6).

He went on to say that Christians should be proud because St Theresa Parish Serian turned 97 years old yesterday, and in three years, Catholic Christianity will celebrate 100 years in the Serian Division.

Meanwhile, Reverend Father Lazarus Swinie, the Rector of St Theresa Parish, expressed his gratitude to the representatives of the Serian Parliament – Tarat assemblyman (Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn), Tebedu assemblyman (Dr Simon Sinang Bada), Kedup assemblyman (Datuk Martin Ben), and Bukit Semuja assemblyman (John Ilus) – for their generous contributions of RM10,000 each towards the Serian Parish Pastoral Centre project, which greatly contributed to its success.
