SIBURAN, May 28: The Serian Gawai Dayak Carnival 2024 is set to take place at Dewan Manggeng Siburan, from June 6 to 8.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Deputy Minister of Transport (Aviation and Road) Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said that one of the main attractions of the carnival this time is the Bidayuh community’s beauty pageant, namely Dayung Sangon and Dari Pogan.
“The final competition will be held on June 8 involving eight participants from Dayung Sangon and eight participants from Pogan.
“In addition, exhibitions and educational talks will also be held at the Kampung Sungai Duuh Multipurpose Hall,” he said in a press conference regarding the carnival here today.
Dr Jerip who is also the chairman of the Serian Gawai Dayak Carnival Working Committee also invited members of the public to come to the event later.
Also present were Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin, Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) president Datu Ik Pahon Joyik and other officials. — DayakDaily
