Serian API highest at 406 as five areas record readings above 300 as of 10am (Sept 1)

KUCHING, Sept 1: Six areas in Sarawak have recorded hazardous Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 10am today.

According to data from the API Management System (APIMS) under the Department of Environment, Serian continues to record the highest API at 406.

Also in the hazardous category are Kuching (398), Samarahan (369), Sri Aman (362), Sarikei (340), and Sibu (321).

Meanwhile, Bintulu and Mukah each recorded an API of 241, and Samalaju recorded 234—all three are in the very unhealthy category.

In the unhealthy category are ILP Miri (187), Miri (181), Kapit (180), and Limbang (165).

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and readings above 300 hazardous. — DayakDaily
