KUCHING, July 23: Malaysians will enjoy a long weekend this September, as the federal government has declared Monday, Sept 15, 2025, a public holiday in conjunction with Malaysia Day celebrations.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the additional public holiday is granted as a gesture of appreciation for the spirit of unity and the historical significance of Malaysia’s formation.
“This is also to encourage the public to strengthen family bonds in their hometowns or take the opportunity to travel within the country,” he said during a special announcement broadcast live on local television this morning (July 23).
With the declaration of this public holiday, Malaysians will benefit from a three-day weekend from Saturday (Sept 13) to Monday (Sept 15), ahead of the Malaysia Day public holiday on Tuesday (Sept 16). — DayakDaily
