DARO, July 2: An elderly man sustained burns when a fire broke out in a wooden house at Kampung Bruit today.
According to a TVS news report, the incident happened at around 4pm when all nine occupants, including one person with disabilities, were resting in the house.
A spokesperson for the P206 Tanjong Manis Service Centre, when contacted, said the victim suffered burns on his body while trying to escape.
“However, all occupants managed to escape to safety, but the house was destroyed,” said the spokesperson.
The spokesperson added that staff from the service centre are now mobilising to extend aid to the victim.
At the same time, a spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said a team of firefighters rushed to the location after receiving a call regarding the incident.
“The location of the incident is across the river and is only accessible via ferry,” said the Sarawak Bomba spokesperson. — DayakDaily
