MIRI, Dec 12: A senior citizen was terrified when he discovered a one metre-long cobra slithering on the floor of his kitchen.

The incident happened on Tuesday (Dec 11) at a house at Kampung Lusut Lambir around 2.28pm.

Prior to the discovery, the 57-year-old man was walking towards the kitchen to grab something to eat when he spotted the venomous snake on the floor of the kitchen.

Concerned for his family’s safety, the man immediately reached for his handphone and called the Miri Civil Defence force (APM).

“I was worried that the snake might harm my family, so without any hesitation, I ran to the living room and called the APM,” said the man who wished to remain anonymous.

Following the emergency alert, three Miri APM personnel were mobilised to the man’s residence, arriving at 3.05pm at the house.

The snake was still hiding in a section inside the kitchen area when the APM team approached. It took them 15 minutes to pull the snake out from its hiding place and secure it before removing it from the location. — DayakDaily
