KUCHING, Aug 7: Police arrested a 60-year-old man and seized three homemade air rifles yesterday.
Kuching District Police chief Awang Din Awang Gani said acting on a public tip-off, they raided a shoplot at Jalan Sekama around 6.45pm where the suspect was living alone.
“Upon searching the unit, police found three homemade rifles and a few marbles (guli) as bullets. He claimed that he made the rifles for self-protection,” Awang Din said.

The general worker also told police he learned how to make rifles from Internet websites.
Further checks revealed that the suspect had a criminal record.
He was arrested under Section 8 (A) of the Firearms Act 1960 for illegal weapon possession. — DayakDaily
