KUCHING, March 22: Senator Abun Sui Anyit has reassured the public that information stored in Padu, the national Central Database Hub, will be used solely to assist those in need and will not be misused by the government.

Abun Sui emphasised that Padu will serve as a crucial tool for distributing government assistance to eligible individuals.

“In light of the Circular issued by Sri Aman Residents on March 21, 2024, I urge all Malaysians, especially those in Sarawak from the B40 group, to confidently provide their information to Padu,” he stated.

“We cannot afford to have eligible individuals miss out on government assistance in the future simply because they did not update their information in Padu,” he added.

On March 21, a circular allegedly issued by Sri Aman Resident officer has instructed district officers from Sri Aman, Lubok Antu, Pantu, including deputy officer for Linga and administrative officer for Engkelili small district council to halt registration of information on Padu database until further notice.

Abun Sui cautioned that individuals who choose not to update their information in Padu cannot hold the Federal government responsible if they fail to receive any assistance later on.

“I have personally updated my information in Padu since January 2024,” he revealed.

Earlier today, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah expressed his personal view that registering for Padu was akin to “stripping oneself completely naked” as all personal information, including bank accounts and properties, must be disclosed. — DayakDaily
