Senari Port welcomes first cruise ship to S’wak in 2024: ‘Silver Shadow’ docks with 598 passengers, crew

KUCHING, March 25: Sarawak welcomed its first cruise ship this year from Silversea Cruises, United States, named ‘Silver Shadow’, which arrived at Senari Port on Jalan Bako here today at 6.15am, bringing 296 passengers for a brief visit to Sarawak.

According to a press release from the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB), the passengers, who are mostly from the United States, United Kingdom, Russia, Canada, Germany, Belgium, Australia, Switzerland, France, Italy, and Austria, were greeted with a warm traditional garlanding before embarking on shore excursions to Bako National Park, Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, Sarawak Cultural Village, Borneo Cultures Museum, and Panoramic Kuching City Tour.


“The ship will depart Kuching later today for its next destination, Kota Kinabalu. Other destinations include Saigon and Da Nang, Vietnam, before arriving in Hong Kong on April 4, 2024,” read the press release.

The ‘Silver Shadow’ cruise is operated by Silversea Cruises, based in the United States, and has 302 crew members on board. The 10-deck ship has 194 staterooms, three restaurants, seven lounges and bars, and other amenities that can accommodate a maximum of 466 passengers. — DayakDaily
