DARO, Oct 24: Semop assemblyman Datuk Abdullah Saidol has declared his full support for Tanjong Manis incumbent Yusuf Abdul Wahab to be fielded again in the 15th General Election (GE15).
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), he announced this during Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) Semop Branch’s Sports Carnival awards ceremony at Kampung Semop Multipurpose Hall here on Saturday (Oct 22).
First-timer Yusuf won the Tanjong Manis seat with a 8,674-vote majority against Mohamad Fadillah Sabali of Pakatan Harapan (PH) in GE14.
There is a high possibility that Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) will field Yusuf again in the seat as the party has a practice of letting their elected representatives serve at least two terms.
However, the final decision still lies with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman and PBB president Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Abdullah also called upon the PBB Semop branch election machinery to work hard in ensuring victory for the GPS Tanjong Manis candidate.
During the programme, Abdullah announced a contribution of RM17,000 to 17 Saberkas units to carry out activities. — DayakDaily
