BAU, May 24: A man with hemiparesis, a condition causing weakness on one side of the body due to a stroke, regained his ability to walk after bathing three times in the mountain water of Ayak Skuang at Bung Jagoi.

Both Bung Jagoi local guide Juis Megan and Dorod Jagoi Homestay owner Alexis Azza Jemat witnessed this miraculous event unfold back in 2022 on this businessman from Siniawan.

“The man, paralysed on one side, came here (to Bung Jagoi) with the help of his wife. I told him to soak in the water (at Ayak Skuang) three times, so he went there on three separate days.

“His wife and I supported him into the water. On the third day, after soaking, we watched him walk down the steps descending the mountain by himself,” Juis recounted.

Alexis, or just Alex, shared his belief in the magical properties of Ayak Skuang water after the episode with the businessman and other instances where three of his female friends successfully conceived after consuming the same water.

“When my female friends told me that they had been trying to get pregnant without success, I suggested that they drink the water (from Ayak Skuang) since there’s no harm in trying.

“So, they took the water. They added a little each day to their morning oat drinks. All three conceived and now have children who are grown up and running around,” he told DayakDaily when met today.

Ayak Skuang at Bung Jagoi features a bamboo channel supplying natural water from the peak. Historically, it was a water source for the local Bidayuh people and is believed to possess healing properties. Visitors pray for health, injury recovery, and fertility.

The water station is a 20-minute jungle trek from Dorod Jagoi Homestay at the abandoned village, which is about a one-and-a-half-hour hike from the mountain’s foot.

Another water station, Ayak Bikubu, located along the hiking trail to Bung Tesen, is believed to have anti-ageing properties.

“If you wash your face with this water regularly, you will always look young. And if you keep the water in a bottle, it will remain clear even after 10 years,” he said. — DayakDaily
