Semanok ravine crash claims life of tanker lorry driver

TATAU, July 9: A driver was killed after his tanker lorry plunged into a 20-feet deep ravine at Semanok, Jalan Tatau-Bintulu this morning.

The deceased, 44, was found trapped under the tanker by firefighters who responded to the incident at 9.58am.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, firefighters had to seek the assistance of an excavator from a nearby Pan Borneo Highway construction site to retrieve the body that was trapped under the lorry.


Firefighters place the body of the deceased onto a stretcher.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s body was later recovered by firefighters and handed over to the police who arrived the scene not long after. — DayakDaily
