KUCHING, Dec 15: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced a self-employed man to 12 months’ jail for punching his nephew’s face and breaking the latter’s nose.
Hadi Maulana, 38, pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 325 of the Penal Code.
Magistrate Zaiton Anuar sentenced him to an imprisonment of 12 months taking effect from November 18, 2021.
The accused was charged with voluntarily causing hurt to his 19-year-old nephew by punching the nose of the victim, at the victim’s grandmother’s house located in Kampung Semerah Padi, at about 7.50pm on July 13, 2021.
According to the brief facts of the case, when the incident happened, the victim was conversing with his cousin in front of his grandmother’s house when the accused suddenly came up and punched the victim in the face.
The accused then demanded money from the victim to pay for house utility bills and said he had raised the victim since young and now the victim has grown up but refused to take care of him.
